As a student at the Bronx High School of Science, I learned to program on a computer using punch cards. I would then go home and watch Star Trek and I knew that “State of the Art Computing” was still too crude for me.
In the 1980’s I owned a bicycle messenger service in Manhattan and was swamped by the paperwork. We desperately needed to computerize and I worked with several “experts” who swore they could do it using PC/AT on the front end and a mainframe on the back. We wasted $50,000 and I gave up on it until the Macintosh came on the scene. Despite it being WAY COOL I knew that they were just not fast enough for my needs.
In May of 1987 the MacSE was released with a massive 8 MB of RAM and a huge 20 MB hard drive and I immediately bought one and started to learn how to program it. In 1988 I published MacMessenger which automated my business with on-line Dispatching through Billing and Sales.
My fascination with IT quickly lead me to sell the business and become a consultant full time. Like all budding technologists my focus was always on what the newest “bleeding edge” technology could do. I plunged into an extremely broad based career with jobs in every area of Information Technology. I have built networks as well as designed global WANS, been both a Business and Systems Analyst, Systems Architect, Developer, Mapping Specialist [GIS], Programmer, Senior Network Engineer, Desktop Support, QA, Team Leader and Web-Master. I have worked in house and as an outside consultant for many of the worlds top firms in many industries including accounting, consumer products, finance and publishing – and I have had many, many small clients.
Having more then two decades of experience, I know to focus on how the technology can improve your business process instead of being enamored with the latest and greatest new thing. I quickly adapt technology to create innovative solutions and scalable systems to meet your business’ needs. I am open to travel and would consider relocating.
