New York City's GIS (Geographic Information Services) development was lead by Wendy Dorf (Project Manager at Department Of Environmental Protection) since its inception in 1990. She knew me through the "Map of Knowledge" project that I started with the Board of Education. The Map of Knowledge uses the Digital Orthophoto of New York and several of the data layers in NYC's GIS databases. After the collapse of the World Trade Center Wendy asked me to help FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) who had set up the Command Post on Pier 90. I produced various specialized maps, mostly for the Secret Service.
